DECATUR— Enjoy the morning sunshine before it passes, because showers and thunderstorms are in the forecast Friday evening until Sunday night, according to the National Weather Service at Lincoln.
The weather service said the main concern is damaging winds. Heavy rain is also possible, which could lead to localized flash flooding.
The weather service said there is a chance for a thunderstorm between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Friday, and the high temperature is expected to be 78 degrees. Showers are likely and a thunderstorm is possible between 10 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, the service said.
There will be a couple chances for storms today. A decaying line of storms will move across portions of central IL late AM/early PM. Additional storms will develop this eve/tonight. A warm front will lift across the area Saturday, resulting in a chance of additional severe thunderstorms, the National Weather Service at Lincoln said. Temperatures are expected to reach 85 degrees.
