DECATUR — More than 15,000 Macon County residents are expected to be helped by a $50,000 grant from Caterpillar Foundation to the Central Illinois Foodbank.

Thirty food banks will receive similar grants, the food bank said Monday in a news release.

The grant will allow it to hold healthy food distributions in Macon County. The events will have food bank staff deliver food to a designated site where individuals and families will be able to select items, such as fresh produce, lean protein and milk.
