DECATUR — A central air conditioning unit, valued at more than $2,000, was disconnected and stolen from a Decatur rental home, police said.

The unit was taken from a property on Oriole Drive and was last seen in place by the landlord two or three days prior to Monday.

“The landlord said he was informed by his maintenance man that the air conditioner unit was stolen from the backyard of his residence,” said Decatur police Detective Sgt. Chris Copeland. The theft was reported at 9:05 a.m. Monday.
