DECATUR — The victim of a Saturday night shooting on North Graceland Avenue in Decatur has been identified as Nathaniel D. Majors, 22, of Decatur, according to Macon County Coroner Michael Day.
Day said in a statement Sunday that Majors was taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital and pronounced dead at 10:22 p.m. Saturday after all resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful.
An autopsy was scheduled for Sunday at the McLean County Coroner’s Morgue in Bloomington.
Lt. Brian Cleary of the Decatur Police Department said the investigation began shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday, when police responded to a report of a shooting victim at DMH.
Officers determined that the crime scene was in the 2000 block of North Graceland Avenue, and they obtained a warrant and searched the residence for evidence, Cleary said.
“Several persons have been interviewed at this time and the investigation continues to move forward,” Cleary said in a statement.
No arrests have been made.
