DECATUR — The Macon County coroner on Thursday said toxicology results would be needed to determine the cause of death for Kimberly D. Mashburn, who was found dead in the 1300 block of East Walnut Street.
Mashburn, 29, was found in a truck and pronounced dead at 7:02 p.m. Wednesday, Coroner Michael Day said in a statement.
An autopsy performed Thursday evening found no evidence of strangulation, assault or cold exposure, Day said. There was no sign of a tumor, carbon monoxide poisoning or infection. The cause of death is pending the toxicology results, which typically take several weeks, Day said.
"We are currently investigating the circumstances around the death," Decatur police Sgt. Chris Copeland said.
Police Lt. Shannon Seal on Wednesday said officers were dispatched to the scene at 4:30 p.m.
