DECATUR — A Decatur man who police said fed a woman cocaine and used her as a sex slave for profit has been sentenced to 18 months in prison.

Ryan A. Bostick, 31, pleaded guilty Friday in Macon County Circuit Court to one charge of promoting prostitution, a Class 4 felony. In a plea deal negotiated by his public defender, Scott Rueter, a charge of involuntary servitude involving financial harm was dismissed.

Bostick, in a separate case, also pleaded guilty to a unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and was sentenced to an additional 18 months in prison, but the sentence was ordered to run concurrent with the first 18-month sentence, so he will not serve extra time.

A Decatur police affidavit said the sex slave charges involved Bostick and another man, 49-year-old Anthony D. Bates, holding a 23-year-old woman captive for several days at a Decatur house before their arrest on June 24.

The affidavit said she told police her bedroom door was kept locked from the outside while Bostick supplied her with cocaine “to curb her hunger and so she will get skinny."

She had described being driven around various locations in Decatur and performing oral sex on customers her captives directed her to. She also described being forced to perform sex acts for Bates in the house where she was held in return for food, showers and feminine hygiene products.

Bates took his own plea deal Aug. 10 and was sentenced to 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to one count of promoting prostitution.
