DECATUR — Police on Tuesday said a murder arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in the shooting death of Bernard Norvell of Decatur.
In a news release, the Decatur Police Department said Alexander L. Boey, 26, is wanted on a preliminary charge of first-degree murder. Boey is described as 6 feet tall and weighing 155 pounds. Police said Boey is considered to be armed and dangerous.
Police said Norvell, 35, was shot about 12:45 a.m. June 3 at 447 E. Stuart Ave. Norvell was rushed to Decatur Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 1:23 a.m.
Detectives have been working the case with search warrants and numerous interviews.
Police were called back to the house to investigate after the home was damaged by a fire on Sunday. The Decatur Fire Department said the house was unoccupied at the time of the fire, which was being investigated as an arson.
