Police, fire fighters and ambulance workers were on the scene of a two car crash at Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Williams Street Monday morning. 

DECATUR — Police, fire and ambulance workers responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of Martin Luther King, Jr. and East William Street around 8:30 a.m. Monday.

An ambulance took at least one person to a local hospital, police said.

Police, fire fighters and ambulance workers were on the scene of a two car crash at Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Williams Street Monday morning. 

Both cars had visible front-end damage and were towed from the scene. It appeared that the vehicle traveling southbound had ended up on the northbound side of the road on the sidewalk. 

The street was closed off from East William Street to Main Street until 9 a.m. as police worked in the area. 

Ameren Illinois crews also responded because one of the vehicle was touching a power line.

Decatur Police Department officers at the scene said they could not immediately provide more information.
