DECATUR — Police said they stopped and arrested a burglary team of two men and a woman who were caught stealing from vehicles and a garage early Wednesday in Decatur.

A sworn affidavit from the Decatur police said patrol officers were dispatched to Jamar Trail on the city's east side at 12:23 a.m. in response to a call of people being seen trying to break into cars.

The affidavit said they encountered a juvenile boy who admitted he was acting as a lookout for the burglary team, which he named as a 26-year-old Decatur woman and two men, ages 28 and 19.

They were quickly located in the area and arrested on preliminary charges of burglary and residential burglary, which are subject to review by the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Police said the team burglarized five vehicles to steal cash and personal possessions and broke into a garage and took a mountain bike.
