DECATUR — Police said they have arrested a 13-year-old boy responsible for spray-painted graffiti vandalism on several Decatur streets.

Written reports from Decatur police said he was booked on seven preliminary charges of criminal defacement of property, which are subject to review by the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Detective Sgt. Chris Copeland said the vandalism reports dated to early July, and the teen was given notice to appear in court after patrol officers identified him.

“Anybody who had graffiti painted on property at the beginning of July in the 1000 through 1200 block of North Edward and the 600 to 700 block of West Center streets and the 200 block of West Johnson Avenue, we probably got (the responsible person),” Copeland said.

This story has been edited to reflect that police made one arrest with seven preliminary charges.
