DECATUR — A woman told police her Decatur home was hit by a bullet after she heard a “loud bang” about 7:50 p.m. Saturday.

Man denies charge he flagged down and shot passing Decatur driver

Detective Sgt. Chris Copeland said patrol officers who were dispatched to the woman’s home in the 1300 block of East Division Street did see a “semi-circular defect” in the home’s siding.

“But the officer was unable to determine if it was new or old damage,” Copeland said.

“There were no bullet casings recovered and no fresh footprints in the snow and no damage seen to the inside of the residence which would indicate a projectile entered the home,” said Copeland. “But she (the homeowner) believed the damage to the home was fresh.”
