DECATUR — A Decatur woman discovered Wednesday that her bank account had been drained of almost $3,000 due to identity theft, police said.

Detective Sgt. Steve Carroll with Decatur police said the 67-year-old woman suspects a family member got hold of her credit/debit card information. Purchases were made between July 10 and Tuesday at the Best Buy store in Forsyth and bestbuy.com, and more than $500 was taken via an ATM transaction.

Carroll said police are investigating.
