Tyliah S. Jones

DECATUR — A Decatur woman was sentenced Friday to 90 days in jail and two years of probation after pleading guilty to charges of endangering the life of a child and obstructing justice after leaving her 15-month on daughter alone in a hotel room.

Tyliah S. Jones, 19, was arrested March 18 after employees at the Ramada Inn, 355 E. Hickory Point Road, called police.

Jones left the hotel to attend a party with friends, according to police statements from the time of the arrest. A hotel guest found the child walking around looking for her mother, according to the statement.

The guilty plea included one count of obstructing justice, a Class 4 felony, and one count of endangering the life or health of a child, a Class A misdemeanor, according to court records. Jones received credit for 20 days she previously spent in Macon County Jail.

She was also ordered to take parenting classes and comply with the Department of Children and Family Services.

Jones was represented by Macon County Public Defender David Ellison, who could not be immediately reached for comment Friday.
