DECATUR — Police say one person was taken to a local hospital Wednesday evening after an altercation in the 1300 block of West Marietta Street.

Sgt. Steve Carroll said in a statement that officers responded to reports of shots fired and a fight in progress in that area at about 6:30 p.m. No gunshot victims, the statement said, but the injured person suffered "significant, but non-life threatening facial injuries." Evidence of gunfire was found at the scene.
