LOUISVILLE — Illinois State Police detectives are investigating the death of a man and woman whose bodies were found in a Clay County residence.
Clay County State’s Attorney Joel Powless said in a statement Thursday that the Clay County Sheriff’s Office responded on Wednesday to an address in Louisville to investigate a 911 call. At the scene, deputies attempted to make contact with someone but were unable to do so.
Powless said deputies positioned themselves to see the inside of the residence, where they saw someone laying on the floor who appeared to be unresponsive. Upon entering the residence, they found a male and female who were both dead. These individuals were identified as 59-year-old Ann VanDyke and 61-year-old Mark Lane
The investigation into this matter was subsequently turned over to the Illinois State Police Zone 7 Investigations, Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services, and the Clay County Coroner’s Office. Law enforcement is continuing their investigation.
Powless said his office had not received any information about possible suspects in this matter and was not aware of any other parties involved at this time. Any additional information can be directed to the State’s Attorney’s Office or the Illinois State Police.
