MACON — A Macon man appeared in Macon County Circuit Court Wednesday and pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of sexually assaulting and exploiting three children younger than 13.

Jesse W. Demascal, 30, denies six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, six counts of sexually exploiting a child through sex acts and one count of exploiting a child.

Macon County State’s Attorney Jay Scott said Demascal carried out the assaults with his 31-year-old girlfriend, Ashley N. Jobe, at the home they shared in Macon. She had appeared in court Feb. 6 and pleaded not guilty to four counts of predatory criminal sexual assault, two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, four counts of sexually exploiting children and one count of exploiting a child.

A sworn affidavit about the case from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office said investigations into what was going on in the couple’s home date to November.

The affidavit said the children spoke of performing sex acts on each and the couple, and described sexual abuse performed on them. The couple are quoted as first denying the charges, and then said to have told police that if any abuse happened, it was because they were under the influence of synthetic cannabis.

Jesse Demascal waived a preliminary hearing and his case was scheduled for a pretrial hearing March 4. He is being held in the Macon County Jail in lieu of posting bond set at $500,000. Ashley Jobe’s case is set for a pretrial hearing March 6; she remains jailed in lieu of posting bond set at $750,000.
