DECATUR — A Decatur man was arrested Tuesday and booked on a preliminary charge of drug possession after police say he was caught snorting methamphetamine from the top of a video gambling machine.

A sworn affidavit from Decatur police said a bartender at Lindy Lu’s video gaming parlor and bar, 550 E. Prairie Ave., had seen the 25-year-old man “snorting an unknown substance off of the machine” about 12:15 p.m. Monday.

The affidavit said she confronted the man who then left, but not before the bartender had copied down the license plate of the car in which he was a passenger.

A little over 24 hours later, police had tracked down and arrested the man. The affidavit said some of the snorted substance had been left behind on the gaming machine and was later identified as crystal methamphetamine.

A message left with Lindy Lu’s management seeking comment was not immediately returned on Wednesday evening.

Preliminary charges are subject to review by the state’s attorney’s office. The man remained in the Macon County Jail on Wednesday night in lieu of posting $5,000 bond.
