MOUNT ZION — A 33-year-old man faces preliminary drug paraphernalia and weapons possession charges after police said an officer found a handgun and a glass pipe in his vehicle during a Thursday traffic stop.

A signed police affidavit said the man's vehicle was pulled over at West Roberts Street and Woodland Drive in Mount Zion. The man was wanted by the Decatur Police Department, the affidavit said, and was arrested.

During a search of the man's vehicle, an officer found the glass pipe with burn marks and a white residue sitting inside of the passenger side door compartment, the affidavit said. The 9 mm handgun was found unloaded under the vehicle's front seat passenger area, the affidavit said.

He faces preliminary charges of possession of a weapon by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia, which are subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office. The man was being held in the Macon County Jail on Friday in lieu of $30,000 bond.
