DECATUR — More money is being offered for tips about a theft of nine firearms from Cody Redman's Auction House, 2102 Northwest Illinois 121, in Decatur.

The incident happened July 6 or 7. A door was forced open and a gun safe was broken into with a drill.

Police ask that anyone with information reach out to the Crime Stoppers at (217) 423-8477. People who provide information that leads to an arrest can receive $500 or more for their efforts.

Decatur auctioneer offers $5,000 reward for information about gun theft

Redman previously offered $5,000 for tips. He said pistols, shotguns and an antique shotgun were stolen.

Macon County Sheriff's Lt. Jamie Belcher last month said he feared the guns would end up on the black market because they would be difficult to sell in a legitimate manner.

“We don’t see thefts of this size every day, and it’s not law-abiding citizens who collect guns this way,” he said.
