DECATUR — Police are investigating after a Decatur man told them someone apparently tried to set his 30-foot camper on fire.
Police said the 65-year-old owner told them he discovered a hole burned into the protective cover he uses to shield the camper from the weather.
Decatur police Sgt. Timothy Maxwell said the damage appeared to be arson because “there was nothing they could determine that would have caused the burn.”
The owner keeps the camper in his driveway in the 1100 block of North Westlawn Avenue and said the attempt to set it on fire was made between March 1 and Friday, when the damage was discovered.
