DECATUR — Two cellphone stores were hit by thieves early Friday morning, according to reports from the Macon County Sheriff's Office and the Decatur Police Department.

Cellphones and accessories were stolen about 1 a.m. Friday morning from T-Mobile 1260 U.S. 51, Suite D, in Forsyth, sheriff's Sgt. Jason Brown said.

An alarm was activated immediately, and by the time deputies arrived, thief or thieves had fled, Brown said.

Decatur police detective Sgt. Steve Carroll said that about 2:45 a.m. two suspects wearing black hooded sweatshirts threw a rock through the window of the Sprint store at 245 E. Ash Ave. in Decatur. The pair then stole cellphones.

Both cases remained under investigation, and not further details were available, police and the sheriff's office said.
