DECATUR — One man is dead and another was injured after two separate shooting incidents early Thursday morning, the Decatur Police Department said.

A 29-year-old man was found in the cab of a U-Haul truck just after midnight in the 500 block of West Packard Street, detective Sgt. Steve Carroll said in a news release. The man, not believed to be from Decatur, was pronounced dead at the scene from gunfire, Carroll said.

In a second incident just after midnight, a 17-year-old male from Decatur was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle, Carroll said. The male had been shot, and his injuries were considered life threatening. He was later transferred to a Springfield hospital, Carroll said.

The names of the victims are not being released at this time. The investigations are ongoing. Anyone with information about these crimes is encouraged to contact the Decatur Police Department.
