DECATUR — A Decatur man remained in Macon County Jail on Monday after police say he hit his mother in the head with a baseball bat.
The 65-year-old woman told police on Friday evening that her son became angry after she asked him to mow the lawn, according to a sworn police affidavit. She said he hit her with a closed fist before striking her once with the baseball bat.
Police interviewed her at Decatur Memorial Hospital and saw a cut on her head that was consistent with being hit with a bat, according to the affidavit.
The man denied battering his mother, the affidavit said. He was arrested Saturday afternoon on preliminary charges of aggravated domestic battery and aggravated battery. His bond was set at $30,000.
Preliminary charges are subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's office.
