DECATUR — Police have warned a Decatur man about his conduct after a neighbor complained that he was repeatedly exposing himself.

Sgt. Brian Earles said the woman told police she had lived in her eastside neighborhood for about a month and the 89-year-old man had exposed himself on several occasions while standing in his front doorway, the latest incident occurring Friday.

“She did not want to make a criminal complaint; just wanted us to go talk to him and tell him not to do that, which we did,” Earles said. The man at first denied the woman’s claims while laughing, Earles said, but police confronted him with a cellphone video of himself the woman had recorded.

In a case where a charge is filed, Illinois law states that "lewd exposure of the body done with intent to arouse or satisfy the sexual desire of the person" is public indecency, a Class A misdemeanor.
