DECATUR — A Decatur woman complained to police that her identity had been stolen and she is now being bombarded with magazine subscriptions she did not order and does not want.

Sgt. Timothy Maxwell with Decatur police said the 43-year-old woman has recently found herself subscribed and billed for seven magazines ranging from “Super Chevy” to “Model Railroader,” “Cowboys & Indians,” “Woodworking” and “In-Fisherman.”

“She has to keep calling all these different magazines and telling them she never subscribed to them,” Maxwell said.

The incident is listed by police as a case of identity theft. Police said the woman has suspicions about who is behind the literary onslaught and the theft of her identity, but there is no proof so far that the person is responsible.
