DECATUR — Police said a report of shots fired early Monday evening led officers to the city's west side, where witnesses offered conflicting accounts of the incident.

Detective Sgt. Chris Copeland said officers were sent to the area of North Woodlawn Avenue and West Marietta Street at 5:30 p.m. after receiving a call from a mail carrier about shots being fired.

Copeland said the mail carrier reported one vehicle following another while the passenger of one of the vehicles shot at the other. Copeland said witnesses interviewed by officers provided conflicting accounts of the incident, including the number and description of vehicles.

Copeland said no one was reported injured and no property damage was found. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the police department at (217) 424-2721.
