OAKLEY — Police raided an Oakley home May 2 and arrested a man after seizing drugs and guns, a sworn affidavit said.

Austin L. Crist, 24, was taken into custody by officers working with Illinois State Police Task Force 6. The affidavit, released Monday, said police took possession of a 9 mm pistol and AK-47 semi-automatic rifle and seized between 30 and 500 grams of cannabis.

Crist was booked on preliminary felony charges of armed violence, possession of a firearm by a felon, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and unlawful use of cannabis-based product manufacturing equipment. Preliminary charges are subject to review by the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office.

The affidavit said officers on the raid also found a hot plate, wax paper with cannabis residue, a glass tube and butane fuel used in the production of “cannabis wax.” This is a highly concentrated form of the drug, the affidavit said.

“Previous investigation indicated that Austin Crist sold cannabis with the pistol sitting next to him and an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle nearby,” the affidavit said.

The affidavit described Crist’s arrest as part of a continuing narcotics investigation and said Crist has a previous conviction for delivery of cannabis and his firearm owner's identification card is revoked.

Crist remained in the Macon County Jail on Monday night in lieu of $100,000 bond. He is due to be arraigned Friday.
