FORSYTH — A man found slumped and “unresponsive” in a pickup truck parked at the Hickory Point Mall was in possession of more than eight grams of methamphetamine, police said.

A sworn affidavit from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to investigate after passersby saw the 35-year-old Decatur man in the passenger seat of the truck parked near the Kohl’s store at noon Thursday.

“While speaking with (him), his speech was slurred and he appeared very disorientated,” said the affidavit. A police dog later alerted to the presence of illegal drugs and the meth was found in several plastic bags in the truck’s center console, along with a Xanax pill recovered from a door pocket.

The man was booked on preliminary charges of possession of meth and possession of a controlled substance; preliminary charges are subject to review by the state attorney’s office.
