DECATUR — Police were searching Tuesday for a 24-year-old man who forced his way into a teenage girl’s Decatur home and punched her in the mouth.
Detective Sgt. Steve Carroll with the Decatur police said the home invasion happened about 10:20 p.m. Monday in the 2400 block of East William Street. He said the victim, who was also bitten in the assault, knew her attacker.
“He wanted to have the relationship go a little farther, and she didn’t want that,” Carroll said. “She tried to run inside and lock the door so he couldn’t come in, and as she attempted to shut the door, he pushed it open, entered the house and punched her.”
Carroll said police know the man’s identity, and he is wanted on a preliminary charge of home invasion, which would be subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office.
