Police: 4 men try to rob Decatur home for pot, money


DECATUR — Two men have been arrested for attempting an armed robbery at a Decatur home Tuesday, police said. 

A sworn affidavit said Decatur police officers arrived at a house in the 2500 block of Hedrick Court on Tuesday evening where four people had been knocking at the front door.

The men were looking to rob the home for cannabis and money, according to the affidavit. The resident told officers he heard knocking at his door and saw two people with guns on his porch. The four men ran from the home and one threw a gun behind the house, the affidavit said. 

The affidavit is not clear as to whether or not all four men had been arrested, though one is a minor. Decatur police sergeants were not available for comment.

One man who is 21 years old is facing charges for attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, contributing to the delinquency of a child and other charges. A 23-year-old man faces charges of attempted armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery. Both are being held at the Macon County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bond. Preliminary charges are subject to review by the State’s Attorney’s Office.
