DECATUR — Police have arrested the second member of a two-man smash-and-grab team accused of breaking through the front of a Decatur store and stealing an entire ATM, according to a sworn affidavit.

The affidavit said the burglary raid happened the night of Aug. 3 and targeted the Mini Mart Express, 415 W. Grand Ave. The 33-year-old man helped his accomplice carry the ATM out of the store and load it into a sport utility vehicle before driving away, police said.

The man was arrested 12:30 a.m. Wednesday and booked into the Macon County Jail on a preliminary charge of burglary. Preliminary charges are subject to review by the State’s Attorney’s Office. He is being held without bail as is his accomplice, also 33, who had been arrested Aug. 8 on preliminary charges of burglary and possession of burglary tools.
