DECATUR — A 48-year-old man was arrested after police say he and two other men robbed a man at gunpoint Saturday night.

Sgt. Chris Copeland said an officer was dispatched to the intersection of North Morgan and West Division Streets around 10 p.m. on a call about three men robbing a man and taking his money.

The victim told police one man had a gun, Copeland said.

He said the officer saw three men matching the descriptions of the suspects walking westbound on Division Street. The officer demanded the three to stop running; one stopped and two fled.

Copeland said the officer pursued the man the victim described as the gunman. While fleeing from police, the suspect dug into his front waistband and dropped a loaded silver revolver to the ground.

The officer attempted to deploy his Taser, missed and fell, Copeland said. A backup officer caught and arrested the suspect in the 1500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.

The 48-year-old man is being held in the Macon County Jail on preliminary felony charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card, resisting and obstructing an officer and possession of a weapon by a felon. All preliminary charges are subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office. His bail was set at $15,000.

The other two men were not arrested.
