DECATUR — Police said one of two men accused of attacking a woman in the 1100 block of East Leafland Avenue was arrested Thursday night.

The 34-year-old man faces preliminary charges of mob action and aggravated battery, both of which are subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office.

A signed police affidavit said the incident happened in an empty grass lot at 3 a.m. Thursday. After seeing the first man punching the victim, the man whom police arrested ran over to the scene and joined in by punching her in the torso and leg area, the affidavit said.

Officers later examined the woman's injuries and found several bruises on her body, the affidavit said.

The man was being held in the Macon County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bond Friday. He is scheduled to be arraigned Aug. 7.
