DECATUR — Police said a Decatur man messaged a friend on Facebook that he had arrived at her house Monday afternoon and, when she let him in, he robbed her at gunpoint.

A sworn affidavit from the Decatur police said the 23-year-old man has known the woman “for several years.” Officer Tyler Nottingham said the woman had invited the man to visit her home on the city's southwest side and got a Facebook “chat message” that he was waiting outside.

“She stated she was standing inside the kitchen when he presented a black semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at her head,” Nottingham said. “He demanded she give him what money she had on her person.”

The woman handed over $300, and the man left. Police located and arrested him early Tuesday morning. He was jailed on preliminary charges of armed robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon, which are subject to review by the Macon County State’s Attorney’s Office.
