DECATUR — Police said a Decatur Walmart employee was arrested on Monday on a preliminary charge of stealing more than $2,000 from her cash register.

Police detective Sgt. Chris Copeland said the 19-year-old woman was booked on a preliminary charge of theft from the store where she worked at 4224 North Prospect Drive.

Copeland said Walmart loss prevention officers discovered the theft when they reviewed multiple transactions dating back to Dec. 13th.

Preliminary charges are subject to review by the state’s attorney's office.
