DECATUR —  Two people were hospitalized — one with injuries described as life-threatening — Tuesday night after a two-vehicle crash on Decatur's east side.

Sgt. Adam Jahraus said first responders were called to eastbound Illinois 105 near South Country Club Drive and North Excelsior Street at 7:51 p.m. He said a sedan and a sport-utility vehicle were traveling east on Illinois 105 before colliding.

Jahraus said the sedan came contact with the SUV first. The sedan went into westbound lanes before coming to a rest, he said. The SUV went off the roadway on the south side of the road and is believed to have rolled over at least once, he said.

The occupants of the SUV, a man and a pregnant woman, were both taken to Decatur Memorial Hospital for treatment.

The man's injuries were considered life-threatening, Jahraus said, while the woman's were not as severe. He said the man who drove the sedan did not seek medical attention. The sedan's driver was arrested on a preliminary charge of driving under the influence of alcohol, Jahraus said. Preliminary charges are subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office.

Jahraus said the Fatal Accident Investigation Team, which responds to all serious or fatal crashes in the city, was called to investigate the crash. The incident remained under investigation Wednesday night.
