DECATUR — A man accused of throwing a rock through a window next to the main entrance door of the Heritage Behavioral Health Center, 151 N. Main St., in Decatur, has been arrested, police said.

A sworn Decatur police affidavit said 31-year-old man caused the damage on the evening of Oct. 2, but officers did not locate and take him into custody until Monday morning.

The affidavit said the man first threw a rock through the window, damaging an interior wall, and then he hurled a second rock against a door south of the window, damaging both the door and the door frame. The total amount of repairs needed was estimated to cost more than $1,600.

The affidavit said a witness later identified the man from a photo lineup.

The man was booked on a preliminary charge of criminal damage over $500, which is subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney’s Office. The man remained held in the Macon County Jail on Tuesday night in lieu of $10,000 bail.
