Sheriff's office seeking Decatur man charged with animal cruelty

  • 0

DECATUR — The Macon County Sheriff's Office is looking for Dalton C. Skinner, a 21-year-old man charged with aggravated cruelty to an animal.

The sheriff's office in a post on its Facebook page asked for anyone with information about Skinner's whereabouts to contact Decatur/Macon County Area Crimestoppers at (217) 423-8477. Anyone who provides information leading to his arrest could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000.

Skinner pleaded not guilty to the charge in April. Police said he beat his dog and left it urine soaked and lying in a bathtub stained with the animal’s blood. The dog was removed for professional medical help and was said in April to be in recovery.

Skinner was set to appear in Macon County Circuit Court for a pretrial hearing May 7. Court records indicate that he did not appear, and a warrant has since been issued for his arrest.
