Police say a Decatur man was hit in the face Saturday night by a “Polar Pop” and mustard cocktail thrown by an ex-girlfriend unhappy that the drink he had bought her was warm with no ice.
Written reports said the woman, 34, had been busy cleaning the man's home in the 1200 block of West Marietta Street, which she does as a way to spend some time with the two children she has by the man. But she became enraged when he showed up with the warm drink and she allegedly mixed the contents with mustard before launching it at him while he sat in his vehicle.
Patrol officers described both him and the car interior as being covered in a “thick, yellow stubstance, which was later determined to be mustard.”
The man said his eyes stung and he at first feared she had laced the drink with bleach. He also claimed the warm drink wasn't his fault, and had been purchased by his current girlfriend. The ex-girlfriend was booked on a charge of domestic battery.
