DECATUR — A woman accused of telling a police officer multiple times that a wanted man was not in her house was arrested Saturday night on charges of obstructing justice.
Sworn statements say when officers arrived at the house in the 1000 block of West Howard Street they had already seen the male suspect standing in a bathroom. When police insisted the man they wanted was inside, the statements said she “stated at least five times that she did not know where he was.”
Police later found the man, 21, wanted on an outstanding warrant, hiding under a couch. It's alleged he swung a punch at police and cut an officer's finger while resisting arrest.
Police said the woman, 41, also “twisted her body wildly” to try to stop officers arresting her, and she was booked on a charge of resisting police.
