DECATUR — A Decatur woman reported to police that more than $500 in cash left inside a truck towed after a hit-and-run accident is now missing.

Detective Sgt. Chris Copeland with Decatur Police said the truck had ended up in a ditch in the 500 block of South 34th Street about 6:22 p.m. Thursday.

An officer working the crash had noted there was a quantity of cash left in the vehicle console after the accident but not how much; Copeland said the driver, the woman’s husband, had left the scene and was later arrested on charges of failure to report an accident. The 27-year-old woman had gone to the auto body shop where the truck was towed on Friday to pick up the cash but told police there was no sign of it.
