Richland HOPE Club
DECATUR — The Helping Out People Everywhere (HOPE) Club at Richland Community College will sponsor an amateur photography contest open to students and the community.
Photographs must be submitted between 9 a.m. to noon and 2 to 4 p.m. March 26 and 27 in the Student Engagement Office, room C133. The exhibit will begin Thursday, March 28 and winners will be announced on March 29. The first-place winner receives $100.
All photos must represent the theme, “Helping Out People Everywhere,” include a caption that states how the photograph depicts this message, and name a charitable organization that the photographer supports. Participants must be at least 15 years old. Professional photographers are not eligible. Entry fee is $5 per two submitted photos, which must be at least 5-by-7, matted and/or framed.

Meridian sets screenings

BLUE MOUND — Meridian Schools will hold kindergarten screenings for the 2019-20 school year on Thursday, April 4, at Meridian Elementary School in Blue Mound.
Appointments are required. Call (217) 692-2535 beginning Monday, March 18. Bring the child's birth certificate and two forms verifying residency to the appointment. Students currently in the prekindergarten program do not have to be screened.
ALAH FFA scholarships
ARTHUR — The Arthur-Lovington-Atwood-Hammon FFA Alumni Chapter is offering scholarships for the 2019-20 school year to students entering their first or second year of post-secondary education at a trade school, college or university.
Students must be graduates of ALAH high schools and been a member of FFA for a minimum of two semesters, complete an application and an in-person interview with the alumni scholarship team. Deadline to apply is Sunday, March 31. For more information, call Jim Fleming, (217) 791-1026.
