Retired Pana principal honored

PANA – Retired Pana High School Principal Gayle McRoberts was honored with an Illinois Senate proclamation acknowledging her nearly two decades of service to public education and the Pana community.

State Sen. Andy Manar, D-Bunker Hill, presented McRoberts with the framed proclamation during a retirement party Saturday, June 30, at the Pana Country Club.

McRoberts, who was the longest-serving principal in the history of Pana High School, for having a positive, lasting influence on a generation of Pana students and notes that her daily presence at the school will be missed.

Back to school event planned

DECATUR – Free school physicals, dental exams and other screenings, as well as backpacks filled with school supplies for children kindergarten through sixth grade, will be available Aug. 11 as part of the JumpStart Back to School Clinic and Backpack Attack.

9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Crossing HealthCare, 320 Central Ave.

9 a.m.-1 p.m. at Decatur Family YMCA, 220 W. McKinley Ave., which will also host carnival games, bounce houses and face-painting.

Prange promoted at Millikin​

DECATUR – Raphaella Prange has been named vice president for student affairs and dean of student development at Millikin​ University.

Prange has been dean of student development since 2011. She previously worked in the Student Programs, Greek Life, Residence Life and Student Development department. She has also taught in the Millikin Program for Student Learning.

Prange earned a bachelor of arts degree from DePauw University and master's degree from Indiana State University.

Millikin names new alumni VP

DECATUR – Gina Bianchi is the new vice president for alumni and development at Millikin University. 

Bianchi succeeds Charles Hahn, who will remain with the Millikin Alumni and Development Office as a senior adviser for development.

Bianchi was associate vice president for alumni and development from February 2017 to June. She also served as interim vice president from August 2016 to February 2017.

Bianchi earned her undergraduate degree at Millikin in communication and public relations in 1993.
