COLFAX — The principal of Sullivan High School, who originally is from Fairbury, has been named the next superintendent of Ridgeview schools.
Erik Young was chosen from a nationwide pool of candidates to replace interim Superintendent Steve Epperson, Ridgeview officials said in a statement Wednesday. The school board unanimously approved the appointment Tuesday night.
Young will finish the school year as principal at Sullivan before starting his new position July 1, 2019.
Young said he and his family are excited to relocate back to the area to live and work in the Colfax-based district.
The new superintendent spent nine years in Sullivan, working as middle school and high school assistant principal before being promoted to principal in 2013. Young also spent six years working as a middle school and high school teacher at the Riverton School District.
Young earned his bachelor’s degree in health and business administration, master’s in education administration and superintendent license from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.
