Try 3 months for $3

About 800 runners take off at the start of the 12th Penguin in the Park 5K in Fairview Park in 2017. The event supports the Decatur Park District and scholarships in the name of John 'the Penguin' Bingham, a Millikin University graduate and former Runner's World magazine columnist.

DECATUR — The 14th annual Penguin in the Park 5K run/walk will be Saturday, March 30, at Fairview Park.

Named for Millikin University alumnus John Bingham, Class of 1970, the running world's advice-giving “Penguin,” the day will begin with the 300-meter Penguin Jr. Dash at 8:30 a.m., followed by the 5K run/walk at 9 a.m. The post-race party will be in Griswold Gym on Millikin's campus.

Proceeds from the race benefit a John “The Penguin” Bingham entrepreneurship scholarship at Millikin and the Decatur Indoor Sports Center's youth programs.
