DECATUR — All lanes of North 22nd Street in both directions have been closed at the railroad crossing just south of Pershing Road and north of Damon Avenue until Friday, Sept. 14, for improvements, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Access to businesses will be maintained during the closure, but a news release from IDOT said motorists should allow for extra time to get through the marked detour.

Drivers are urged to pay close attention to the changed conditions and signs int he work zones and be alert for workers and equipment.

The construction by Railserve and road closure could extend to next week, depending on weather.
