DECATUR — Neuhoff Media has named Kathy Byerly as vice president and general manager of its Decatur group, according to a Thursday news release.

Byerly most recently served as Neuhoff's associate general manager, and previously worked as a local seller, local sales manager and at the front desk for the broadcasting company's Springfield stations.

"I'm thrilled to be leading a team that has proven time and again the core values of our company: grit, community, innovation and excellence," Byerly said in a statement.

"Every day we are winning for our listeners, clients, community and resetting the bar for what a local media company looks like in our local market," she said.

Neuhoff Media's Decatur group includes radio stations such as WSOY-AM, WDZ-AM, WCZQ-FM and WSOY-FM.

The position had been held by Mike Hulvey, chief operations officer, following the retirement of Mark Hanson in 2014.

Beth Neuhoff, CEO and president of Neuhoff Communications, said in a statement that Byerly's promotion is well-deserved and is an example of "rising through the ranks."

"Kathy has availed herself of every opportunity to improve her skills," Neuhoff said. "She is a compassionate and motivating leader."
