DECATUR — His Eminence Metropolitan Nathanael, the newly installed regional leader of the Greek Orthodox Church, will visit Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church on Wednesday for a town-hall type meeting.
Nathanael, 39, is one of the youngest bishops in the denomination's history. He is responsible for Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, Southeast Missouri, Northern Indiana and Minnesota. One major focus of his ministry will be young people and another will be financial health for the church.
Since he was enthroned in March, Nathanael has embarked on a tour of churches in his metropolis for meetings to hear the concerns of parishioners.
The meeting will begin with a 6:30 p.m. meet-and-greet, followed by the town hall meeting during which parishioners can ask questions and get to know the new bishop. Annunciation is located at 570 N. Union St., Decatur.
