DECATUR — Panera Bread in Decatur has begun interior remodeling, but the sandwiches, soups, salads and, of course, baked goods, will continue to be served during this time.
The restaurant at 255 E. Ash Ave. will remain open 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day during the work, store management said. Closing time is an hour earlier than usual. Signage will be in place if those hours change.
Work started Wednesday evening, and according to manager Dericheane Abdullah, the remodeling should be completed within 11 days.
Additions will include new furniture, carpeting, lighting and paint. Bathrooms will be updated as well. The bakery area will be enclosed with bagel and bread racks incorporated into the wall.
Customers will be able to order their own food through kiosks located in the front of the restaurant.
The overhaul is a corporate-wide initiative. The Decatur restaurant underwent the last remodeling in 2004.
