DECATUR — Police said a 47-year-old Decatur man was arrested Saturday night after officers found several video files containing child pornography on his laptop and an external hard drive.

A signed police affidavit said officers received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children saying a device uploaded a contraband media file to a Google Plus account.

Officers visited a Decatur residence at 10:41 p.m. Saturday, and the man confirmed that the email address linked to the Google Plus account was his and gave police permission to search his computer and external drive, the affidavit said.

A preliminary examination of the computer found several video files of female children from 9 to 15 years old participating in different sexual acts.

The man was arrested on a preliminary child pornography charge, which is subject to review by the Macon County State's Attorney's Office. He was being held in the Macon County Jail on $30,000 bond and is due to be arraigned Aug. 21.
